History

In 2019, the district partnered with the Ohio Facilities Construction Commission to build two new buildings. The community passed a 7.19 mill bond levy to aid in the project. 

Phase 1

Phase I of the project included the construction of a new elementary school, which opened to students in the fall of 2022 and features flexible learning spaces more conducive to how students today learn.

Phase 2

Phase II involving a new Secondary School is now underway. The new 7-12 school building is expected to open during the 2026-2027 school year. 

Future Plans

FLSD plans to use local funding to build new baseball and softball fields, and partner with the Finneytown Alumni Network to renovate the existing gym and Performing Arts Center. 

Timeline

    • 2019
        • FLSD partners with Ohio Facilities Construction Commission to build two new schools where the state pays 60% and the district pays 40%.
            • November – The Finneytown community passed a 7.19 mill bond levy to assist with Master Facility Plan projects.

    • 2021
        • April – Groundbreaking for new Finneytown Elementary School (K-6)

    • 2022
        • September – New elementary school opens to students.

        • Fall – Completion of new 30-year roof on high school gym (ESSER Funded)

    • 2023
        • Schematic Design begins for new 7-12 building.

    • 2024
        • March 2024 – Administrative offices moved from Secondary Campus to Brent Elementary. 

        • July-November – Whitaker abatement, demolition, and site restoration. 

        • August 30th @ 5:30pm – District hosts official groundbreaking for new 7-12 building before home football game.

        • November 2024 – HVAC renovation of the main gym and 100 building (ESSER Funded)

        • June 2024 – Secondary Campus – Select demolition begins to make room for new 7-12 building.

    • 2024-2025 School year
        • Construction work continues

    • 2026-27 School year
        • Winter – New 7-12 building scheduled to open.
