Superintendent – Dr. Laurie Banks

Banks Family

Laurie lives in Harrison, OH with her husband Jon (Quality Manager at The United States Playing Card Company), daughters Lucy (18) and Ruby (16), son Ozzy (14), and dog Gizmo. She graduated from Miami University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology in 2000.  She went on to earn her Master’s Degree in Education at Xavier University and her Doctorate at Miami University.

Prior to joining Finneytown in August of 2016 as the Director of Student Services,  she was Coordinator of Intervention Services at Oak Hills Local School District and an Intervention Specialist at Southwest Local School District.  Before becoming a public educator, Laurie spent time working with Hamilton County Developmental Disabilities Services as an Early Intervention Specialist and Service Coordinator. Laurie has also taught courses in education at Xavier University and Miami University.

During her time at Finneytown, she has networked with other districts to create a Federal Programs Work Group focused on implementing programming that impacts student learning and growth while maintaining compliance with federal regulations.  She was part of the leadership team that brought Restorative Practices to Finneytown and continues to train and support the implementation with a focus on community building.  She believes all students can learn together in inclusive environments that promote strengths and curiosities.  She is committed to Finneytown being a community of belonging.   She is excited about the work being done and the future of Finneytown.

When not working, Laurie is watching her daughters play volleyball or son play baseball and basketball.  You can also find her attending the Banks Concert Series.
