Social Media Threat
We have recently learned of a TikTok challenge that may take place on Friday, December 17. The challenge encourages students to make threats of shootings, bomb threats, and violence against schools across the nation.
The threats do not target any specific school but may impact schools across the United States. The Springfield Township Police Department is aware of the challenge and we are working with them directly. As a result, you may see an increased security presence at schools.
We ask for families to speak with their children about the pressures of social media, as well as the consequences of the behaviors suggested in this challenge.
As always, we ask our students, staff members, families, and community members to report if they see something or hear something concerning on social media or elsewhere by calling your building principal.
While we know these challenges are out there, we also know that the majority of our students do the right thing every day. We are proud of our students and grateful that they value their school community.
Safety Update
The safety of our staff and students is our highest priority. Yesterday, we experienced a soft lockdown at Brent Elementary and Finneytown Secondary Campus in response to a robbery at the Sunoco Gas Station on Winton and Compton. Our administration and SRO were immediately in contact with Springfield Township Police to monitor the situation. The soft lockdown ended around 12:10 PM. We appreciate everyone’s response and diligence to maintain the safety of our learning community.

Nutrition and Wellness Update
Finneytown Local School District, in partnership with Milford Food Services, is committed to providing our students with access to nutritious meals. Please take a few moments to review our annual nutrition and wellness update.
Catalyst Counseling- Passive Consent for Prevention Service
Finneytown Local School District, in partnership with Catalyst, is committed to mental health. We have added additional preventative services with our ESSER allocation. These services will be provided based on recommendations of school personnel. Services include consultation with school staff, support at student meetings, crisis intervention, and connecting to other community services. The letter detailing these preventative services can be found at this link. Please contact your child’s school counselor if you do not want your child to have access to these services.

We would like to celebrate the selection of our new Wildcat Logo! We want to extend our gratitude to everyone who submitted designs and to the students, staff, alumni, parents, board members, and support organization leaders who participated on the committee for selecting the final five options for community voting. Our design team will be finalizing the image to be used on the gym floor at Finneytown Elementary!
