Dear Finneytown Community
I wanted to take a moment to update you on a couple of items that are impacting our district and require our planning and response.
- Alex Harris
Alex’s service will be held this Friday, January 7, 2022. The public viewing begins at 11:00 am and the funeral service is immediately after at 12:00 pm at New Jerusalem Baptist Church-26 W. North Bend Rd Cincinnati, Ohio 45216. The burial will be at 2:00 pm at Spring Grove Cemetery-4521 Spring Grove Avenue Cincinnati, Ohio 45232 followed by the repast at 3:00 pm at Finneytown Secondary Campus in the multipurpose building. Masks will be required at the repast.
Students at the Secondary Campus (6-12) will not have school Friday, January 7, 2022, so they can honor/remember Alex if they so choose. Our Secondary Campus staff will report and have the option of attending Alex’s services that day. Brent and Whitaker will have school as normal.
- COVID, illness, and weather
Finneytown Local School District continues to be committed to having in-person learning for our students. We recognize that there are challenges to this, including COVID, other illnesses, and inclement weather. We continue to work in partnership with Hamilton County Public Health to mitigate the impact on our learning community. We continue to require universal masking. In addition, we do ask that families monitor their children for symptoms and keep them home if they are ill. Hamilton County Public Health has adopted the new guidance from the CDC and is using this to issue quarantines and isolations. If you have any questions, please direct those to Nurse Welling at katewelling@finneytown.org. You can also text or call our COVID-19 hotline at 513-497-3302.
In addition, the winter weather can pose a challenge to in-person learning. We will make every effort to make decisions by 6:00 AM, but there may be times this will not be possible. We may experience situations where we switch from a delay to a closing or need to consider an early release. Please ensure that you have plans for your child(ren) if these circumstances arise.
We appreciate our community’s patience and understanding as we respond to these challenges. We will continue to monitor the situation and make necessary changes. On behalf of our Finneytown Local School District staff, thank you for partnering with us to foster our students’ academic and social growth.
Sincerely,
Laurie Banks, Ph.D.
Superintendent
