Day 28 – Gratitude

“Youth is the gift of nature, but age is a work of art.” Stanislaw Jerzy Lec Hi Terri,
Tomorrow is a big day in my family. It’s the day that the last of my siblings turns 50. It’s almost hard to believe that Scotty, that red-haired, blue-eyed, freckle-faced little brother of mine is actually half a decade old. We will be celebrating him all weekend in Atlanta.

It’s true that you can’t pick your family members. But if I had to do it all over again, I would choose the same two sisters, brother, and the two parents that I was given. Thankfully they are all still around – and I don’t take that for granted.

Today, take an extra minute to reach out to a member of your “family” – whether you are related by blood or not. Catch up. Say “hello.” Look for something to celebrate. We create moments and memories every day – let’s use today to make some good ones.

I know I will! Happy birthday, brother.

Have fun,

PS – And yes, I also did marry a “Scott.” I have lots of “Scotts” in my life, and there’s not a single one of them that’s bad!

PSS – If you want to see the funny side of my relationship with my siblings – especially my brother – here’s a five-minute sketch I did at the Improv:
