day 12 – Gratitude

“Focus on the journey, not the destination. Joy is found not in finishing an activity but in doing it.”  Greg Anderson
Hi Terri,
Last week’s trip to Truro, Nova Scotia, was supposed to be easy. Fly from Cleveland to Toronto, then from Toronto to Halifax, grab a rental car and drive to Truro. I should’ve been at my hotel by 2:00 to enjoy the beauty of the area and perhaps even take a trip to Oak Island (at my husband Scott’s prodding, he’s a big fan of “The Curse of Oak Island” show on the History Channel.)

Here’s what actually happened. The plane “broke” in Cleveland and needed a replacement part – from Toronto. No other flights to Halifax that day, so I rebooked to Moncton, thinking I could get a rental car and drive two hours. Rebooked the flight but there were no rental cars available. Ugh! Ended up taking a three-hour bus ride to Truro, getting in at 8:45 pm and not having the opportunity to do any sightseeing at all.

So what’s to be grateful for in such a horrible travel day? There was confirmed seating on the flight to Moncton. I got to where I needed to go.It was nice to have someone else drive me to my destination. The bus was comfortable and I was able to get some work done.I also put down my phone and enjoyed the beautiful countryside. The program participants were awesome! We had a great time in our ninety-minutes together. The bus station was a quarter-mile from the hotel, so I didn’t need to call a cab.
I could go on and on, but the truth is, when you look for things to be grateful for, you can always find them. What are you grateful for today?

Have fun,
Lisa

PS – Although the travel is not as glamorous as most people think it is, it’s still fun and I enjoy it!
