As you may know, we are entering year 2 implementing our Strategic Plan. Our Strategic Plan focuses on Student Learning, School Culture, Facilities, Communication, and Fiscal Responsibility and Transparency. This plan was developed during the 2017-2018 school year with input from our community, students, and staff. The 2018-2019 school year was our initial year of implementation of the plan. Our Strategic Plan continues to guide our work to foster academic and social growth for all learners in a safe, supportive school environment. Part of the work to live our mission of social and academic growth for each student in a safe, secure learning environment involves our culture and climate. The district chose Restorative Practices as a framework to guide our work with culture and climate for staff and students. We had two trainings during the 2018-2019 school year. Through those initial cohorts, we assembled teacher/building leads to guide full implementation this school year.
We are so excited to engage in this learning with our staff and look forward to the impact it will have on our learning community. Restorative Practices focuses on building strong relationships between
individuals, as well as social connections within communities. The relationships will improve outcomes for our students, which is why we do what we do! The relationships will also improve our ability to
collaborate and work cooperatively as teams to support our students!
In order to train all staff, the district will be closing operations on August 19 and 20. This means staff
will not be available 8-3 on the two days prior to the start of school. We realize the timing is
challenging at the beginning of the year. We ask that families make plans accordingly. We appreciate
the community’s support and truly believe this time will have significant benefits for our students,
staff, and the larger community.
