Ohio PTA Reflections State Winners

Three Finneytown students represented Finneytown Local Schools at the Ohio PTA Convention, for the PTA Reflections Awards Luncheon. Ava Weaver (7th grade) won the Award of Excellence in Photography for State of Ohio-Middle School. Biwas Moktan (4th gr) won OPTA Award of Outstanding Achievement for his photograph titled “My Grandfather”. Robert-Thomas DeNike ( 9th gr) won OPTA Award of Merit for his Superhero Abstract. Brent Students Entertained by Playhouse in the Park Performance

Brent Elementary students and staff welcomed Playhouse in the Park performers as they staged Five Little Monkeys based on the books, Five Little Monkeys. The five actors interacted with the small audience members by inviting them to laugh, clap, and talk directly to them during the performance. The kindergartners and first graders were thoroughly entertained with the performance. Finneytown High School Students Witness Mock Crash Scene

Last Friday, April 26, Springfield Township Police and Fire Departments, Neidhard Young Funeral Home, and several students and administrators demonstrated a mock prom scene crash. With Finneytown High School prom taking place on Saturday evening and many other end of year events occurring, the school district and first responders felt it highly important to impress upon the students the possible consequences when making poor choices of consuming alcohol or drugs and driving. Whitaker Students Take First Place In The Stock Market Game

A group of four students from Whitaker Elementary has won first place in the elementary division of The Stock Market Game™.  While the team, comprised of Alex Anderson, Markeya Walker, Erin Oswald, Nicholas Meale, and their leader Mr. Craig Dukes, played against several elementary teams regionally, they competed against middle school and high school teams at the state tournament on Tuesday, April 23 on the campus of the University of Cincinnati. Finneytown Students Show Their Skills in State Competition

Aidan Rice, Maksim Revelle, Riley Miller,Jacob Huff, Forrest Brown, Bret Sanders, and Hunter Giffin competed in the Skills USA competition in Columbus in April.  They showed their “skills” in Additive Manufacturing, Robotics and Automation Technology, and Engineering Design Technology. Students have the ability of advancing to the national level after winning at the state competitions. If they win on the national level, they may compete against other countries. Murals Are Taking Shape on the Secondary Campus

Finneytown Secondary Campus students are in the process of creating a new mural that best represents Finneytown Middle and High School students. The mural was designed by a group of art students in Mrs. Althoff’s Mentor Group on Switch Up Fridays. The group collaborated on design, theme, composition and completed research on the design, then they cleaned and primed the surface for the mural.
