The 2012 Skyline Crosstown Showdown presented by Meijer/Dr. Pepper, recognized as the nation’s biggest and longest running high school football showcase of its kind in the United States, expands to include Finneytown High School. Over 42 schools will play 21 games over a 10-day period to kick off the prep football seasons in both Ohio and Kentucky.
Finneytown Wildcats will play on Friday, August 24 at UC’s Sheakley Athletics Complex The first high school football game to be played at what normally serves as University of Cincinnati’s practice facility, has neighborhood rivals Finneytown and Northwest facing each other. Both are coming off winning seasons, with Finneytown going 6-4 and Northwest finishing 7-3. The game will kick off at 7:00 PM at the 1,500-seat venue located next to UC’s baseball field.
Besides the largest field and most games, this year’s showdown features a number of firsts:
· First regular-season game to be played at UC’s Skeakley Athletics Center (Finneytown vs. Northwest)
· Two nights of doubleheaders involving all Northern Kentucky schools
· Four games being played in one day at Welcome Stadium in Dayton
Advance tickets for the Showdown session will be available August 1, 2012 at Finneytown High School. All advance tickets are $8.00 (limit of 1,500 tickets to be sold). Each ticket is good for all games listed on that day.
